Back to Ghoul is the Haunted Cathouse school-year ritual for adults who survived homeroom, got stranger, and came back after dark with better boots.
The Event
Back to Ghoul is our 21+ September event built from goth academia, detention glam, haunted lockers, cursed notebooks, occult studies, weird-club fair energy, and the feeling of walking through an empty school hallway when the lights are still on but they should not be.
It is back-to-school nostalgia rebuilt for grown adults with boundaries, taste, and unresolved feelings about fluorescent lighting.
What to Expect
Expect themed décor, DJs, dancing, visuals, social time, strange assignments, yearbook-adjacent photo moments, and people dressed like they either teach forbidden literature or got expelled for summoning something during study hall.
There may be games. There may be class-themed bits. There may be a suspicious syllabus. There will not be any tolerance for acting like the theme gives you permission to be childish with other people’s boundaries.
Class is cursed. Conduct still counts.
Who It’s For
Back to Ghoul is for adults who like dark academia, school horror, goth prep, punk detention, occult libraries, varsity monsters, haunted hallways, and dressing like the AV club had a basement ritual budget.
It is for people who want September to feel spooky before October takes over everything.
Newcomers are welcome. You do not need to know the lore. Bring respect, curiosity, and a clean understanding that adult theme play stays adult.
House Rules
Theme is play. Consent is not roleplay unless explicitly negotiated.
Do not assume anyone wants to be teased, ordered, touched, photographed, corrected, recruited into a bit, or pulled into a dynamic. Ask first. Accept answers. Keep nostalgia from turning into weird behavior.
This is 21+, consent-forward, RACK-aware, and private-house aware.
Why It Matters
Because September has excellent haunted potential and deserves better than office supply sales.
Back to Ghoul gives the Cathouse a reason to sharpen pencils, light candles, curse the syllabus, and start the long march toward Halloween with a hall pass forged in black ink.
Dress & Vibe
Goth academia, haunted prep, detention punk, occult professor, cursed student, dark librarian, monster varsity, black plaid, combat boots, school-spirit slasher, or “I run the AV club in a haunted basement.”
House Rule Spotlight
Theme is play. Consent is not roleplay unless explicitly negotiated.
Sharpen your claws. Class starts after dark.
About Haunted Cathouse Events
The Haunted Cathouse is a 21+ private arts, music, kink-aware, and community space in an old Roxbury Victorian with too much history and several cats in the mythology. Our events are built around music, consent, weird culture, chosen family, and the belief that a good house party can still feel like a portal.
Core Event Standards
- 21+ only
- Consent is active, specific, and reversible
- RACK-aware behavior expected
- Respect the house, the hosts, the cats, the neighbors, and the room
- Costumes, themes, flirtation, and play do not override boundaries
- Private-house energy: act like someone invited you into a real place, because they did
